Fresh Start

So I am going to try to start this thing again. I just checked back on it and found that I had posted twice in April and that was it. I'm just going to ramble here I think. I don't really know what else to do with it.

That being said, my latest obsession is cooking things from scratch. I've taken to buying whole chickens and cutting them up myself. I'm even making my own sauces. Even when I don't get it quite right I still enjoy the food more. I am sure that I am not the only person out there who is getting sick of all the processed crap that is sold in supermarkets across the country. Nearly all of it packed with salt and who knows what else.

I even have plans to further this obsession once the move to Minnesota is accomplished. Once I have the proper space I am going to start canning and preserving things. That way I can pick out the tomatoes and other things that I'm going to be using later. I know it is a fair amount of work but I think it is worth it. Not only will the food taste better, but I will probably end up saving money after the initial investment in equipment. I also hope to be able to get most of the food from local producers to help keep money in the community and reduce the environmental impact.

Once that project is rolling I am going to find a milk supplier and start making my own cheese.

And somewhere further down the road I have plans to make my own sausage and smoke meat, but that's going to take a great deal of space.

For now I just have to settle for good food and beer that I've made.
